#SLA2014 : Make the Most of a Difficult Situation: MORE Solutions to Get You Through

For the third year in a row, I'm giving a session at the Special Libraries Association (SLA) Annual Conference on how to handle difficult work situations.  This was a popular session in Chicago (2012) and San Diego (2013).  In talking via Twitter about attending the session, one person said, "I did few yrs ago & it helped w/ what I was going through."  Knowing that it has helped in the past, I hope that those facing difficult work situations will find their way to this session in Vancouver.

Below is the session description and the handout that I'm using this year for it.

Session Description:  We’ve all experienced a difficult work situation at least once (perhaps twice). While we believe that we control our own destiny, the truth is that a rough project, an abusive boss, a clash with a colleague or even an unpleasant physical space can alter that belief as well as threaten productivity, working relationships, and the ability to succeed and thrive.  In this popular session, we will discuss tactics and techniques, brainstorm solutions, and provide advice for surviving difficult work situations.  You are encouraged to bring your questions and situations, and seek solutions.
